APPALACHIAN APPALOOSA ASSOCIATION
Rules for Competing for 2012 Year END Awards
You must be a current AAA member in good standing at the time that you earn the points. The horse’s owner and rider or person showing the horse should be an AAA member in good standing at the time of earning points.
The age of the person will be the age as of January 1 of that show year. Points for age divisions can be earned on different registered Appaloosa horses as long as those horses are owned or leased by AAA members.
Points will start to accumulate from the date the horse and rider/exhibitor are nominated. No exceptions will be made. Once a horse and rider is nominated, that horse and rider/exhibitor are eligible for all divisions.
To turn in points, the following guidelines must be adhered to:
1. All points must be turned in within 2 weeks of the show event either by mail or email. If mailed, must be post-marked within the 2 week window.
2. All points need to be turned in with the appropriate forms completed or regional show computer printouts to the Points Keeper Designee.
3. World Show Points need to be sent immediately within 24 hours of returning either by mail or email.
Points that are turned in through the Regional Show Associations listed below must be copied and are subject to the same guidelines and deadlines as above.
Regional Show Associations include:
Buckeye Appaloosa Horse Club (BAHC)
These shows automatically send placings to us, so it is not necessary for you to do so.
For shows that do not provide a printed point listing, you are to use your Show Bill and the following information must be written on the Show Bill that will be turned into the Points Keeper Designee:
1. Horse Name (only needs to be on top of Show Bill unless showing more than one (1) horse. If more than one horse, list horse name beside each class competed in.)
2. Rider/Exhibitor Name
3. Number of Riders/Exhibitors in Class
4. Rider/Horse placement in Class
#2 - Showmanship 3rd out of 3/ "Jill with GOER"
You must also sign at the bottom of the Show Bill indicating that the statement of your accomplishment(s) is correct. A show representative must sign below your signature.
Again, same guidelines apply as stated above. You have 2 weeks from the date of show to turn in the results in order for the points to be included in the point total for the year. Either submit by mail or email.
Any protest of points claimed must be in writing by the protester and submitted to the Show Points Designee along with a $25 filing fee. If the protest is found to be valid, the $25 filing fee will be returned. All judgments by the Board of Directors will be final.

HOW POINTS ARE CALCULATED
Points will be calculated by the Point keepers and posted quarterly on the AAA website. Double pointed shows are as follows:
Any show sponsored by:
Buckeye Appaloosa Association
All other shows not listed above will be counted towards your points, but only at standard point values.
Points are to be awarded only to AAA members and AAA horses in the following manner:
Take the number of horses in the class:
Example #1 – 17 horses total and then your place in the class 5th … Then you would have gained 13 points per that judge’s placing. You only gain points for a placing that you received. If you placed 7th and they do not award a 7th place, you get 1 point. If you place 6th you would get 12 points per judge’s placing if there were 17 horses in the class.
If you were the only one in the class, you would earn 1 point. We give you credit for going into the class. If your class total is 2 including yourself and you won, you would still earn 2 points.
Points are gathered under every judge at the show if a sanctioned show judge (not apprentices).
For an OPEN show you need to have a copy of the Show Bill sent to us that has the show official’s signature and phone number on it. Be advised that Open Show Bills will be audited on a random basis at the discretion of the Show Points Designee. The Show Bill must be submitted within 2 weeks of the show date either by mail or email.
For the Appaloosa shows – a copy of your placings must be submitted within 2 weeks of the show date. You will need to ask for a copy of your placings and points from all registered appaloosa shows unless it is the Buckeye Appaloosa shows, Great Lakes, Indiana Appaloosa or West Virginia shows as they are automatically sent to our points keeping staff.
Trail Riding Points
Points will start to accumulate from the date the horse and rider/exhibitor are nominated. No exceptions will be made. Once a horse and exhibitor is nominated, that horse and rider/exhibitor are eligible for all divisions including shows.
For each AAA sponsored trail ride that you go to, you get 40 points for that event ride, 15 points for OHC rides or competitive trail rides, and 60 points for any APHC trail rides that are approved by the National Club. For every horse you bring for another to ride you get 5 points.
You must have a sign in sheet turned in by a member at the ride to the points chairperson or someone on that committee 14 days after the ride, no later. If you are at an OHC or other ride, just send a copy of your trail ride date to the point keeper designee.
